Stove Top Chicken Casserole

I love chicken casserole, and it is usually a hit at our house. I'm always looking for different ways to fix it and came up with a variation that we really like. The Stove Top Stuffing really adds to this dish and makes it just a little bit crunchy, which is always good to me! Serve this with a veggie and you're ready to go!

Stove Top Chicken Casserole

Ingredients:
2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or cubed
8 ounces sour cream
1 can cream of chicken soup (Click here for a substitute.)
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (or more)
1 box Stove Top Stuffing (I used whole wheat chicken flavored)
salt and pepper to taste
4 TBSP butter, melted

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray 9x13 baking dish with nonstick spray. Spread chicken on bottom of baking dish, season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle cheese on top of chicken. In separate bowl, mix sour cream and cream of chicken soup. Spread sour cream mixture on top of cheese. Sprinkle entire box of Stove Top on top of sour cream and soup mixture. Finally, drizzle melted butter on top of entire casserole. Cover with tin foil and bake for 30 minutes covered, until bubbly. Serve with vegetable of choice. I serve it with green beans.

Trying this out for supper tonight. I've had something similar that someone made for us, and I remember it was yummy and really comforting. I'm excited to try it!

This is one of our favorites! When I first discovered this recipe, we must have made it 3 times in a week! I have tweaked it a bit and added mixed veggies to the chicken part and sometimes add a tsp or so of the powdered ranch dressing stuff...it adds a yummy zing!

When I bought my house through costa rica homes for sale
I expected to have a big stove in the kitchen with a huge space, now I am really happy because I can cook every kind of recipe in my huge stove. I really love it.

Do you prepare the stuffing as directed on the box before putting on top of the casserole or do you just put the dry stuffing on top? Thanks.

Alison,
Just sprinkle the dry mix on top.

Made this tonight for dinner and the whole family loved it! Even my two year old ate it up! I didn't have any cream of chicken so made the recipe you had linked up for it. Perfect!
