Sweet Treat Tuesday- Cinnamon Toast

Wow! I love cinnamon toast, and grew up eating it pretty often. But, I never knew it could be so good until Pioneer Woman introduced me to the right way to make cinnamon toast. It was delicious. I mean it, you need to try this. My kiddos loved it. I used whole wheat bread and served it with fresh fruit, so it wasn't totally unhealthy. Make this, your kids and tummy will thank you! Her original recipe calls for 16 slices of bread, I made a smaller batch and changed the ingredients accordingly.

Cinnamon Toast
adapted from Pioneer Woman Cooks

Ingredients
4-5 slices Bread (I used Whole Wheat)
6 TBSP Salted Butter, Softened
1/3 cup Sugar (more To Taste)
1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (more To Taste)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Smush softened butter with a fork. Add sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Stir to completely combine.

Spread on slices of bread, completely covering the surface all the way to the edges.

Place bread on a cookie sheet. Place cookie sheet into the oven and bake for 10 minutes. Turn on the broiler and broil until golden brown and bubbling. Be sure to watch it so it won’t burn!

Remove from oven and serve immediately! I served it with fruit, so we wouldn't be totally unhealthy!

I love this! I have never heard of anyone else mixing the butter, cinnamon and sugar like my family does! It seems like most people just sprinkle the spices on buttered bread. This makes me happy :)

You know, I think I will be putting cinnamon toast on our menu this week. I love that she puts such simple recipes in the book.
