Sweet Treat Tuesday-Fluffy French Toast

Do you like french toast? Well I do. I've always liked it. I think I might sometimes prefer it over pancakes. It's hard to get it just right sometimes though, which means it not tasting like bread with fried egg on the outside of it covered in syrup. Well I tried this recipe out awhile ago and it was definitely a hit. I have been wanting to try french toast actually using french bread, but I never have any on hand when I want to make it. But this time I did have texas toast, which was really great in this. You should give it a try. This recipe also works great halved, which is what I did, because we don't need 10 pieces of french toast laying around our house!

Fluffy French Toast

Ingredients:
1 -2 TBSP vegetable oil
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1 3/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
1/2 tsp Maple flavoring, optional. (If you do not use this, add an extra 1/2 tsp of Vanilla extract.)
10-12 pieces of bread, your choice (I used Texas Toast.)

Directions:
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add just enough vegetable oil to coat entire skillet. Whisk together all dry ingredients, in a separate bowl mix together all wet ingredients. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stir until just combined. Dip single pieces of bread into batter, flipping to coat both sides. Place immediately on hot skillet. Flip when browned and brown other side. Serve immediately and top with your favorite toppings.
