Aglio e Olio with Bacon

Have you ever heard from aglio e olio? It basically pasta with garlic and olive oil. Well, my husband got this dish at a local pasta place a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to recreate it at home. The dish that we had was different from traditional aglio e olio. This one had a bit of tomato sauce and a bit a meat. This was delicious. I actually  made it to take to a church potluck and I didn't have any to take home. This is easy and cheap. If you want to omit the bacon you could. You could also add some sausage, I just didn't have any. Enjoy!

Aglio e olio with Bacon

Ingredients:
4 cloves garlic, minced
3/4-cup olive oil
3/4 cup tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon (or more) red pepper flakes
1 Tablespoon Parsley
Parmesan cheese, shredded
zest from 1/2 of a lemon
1 package bacon, cooked and cut into bite-size pieces
1 box angel hair (or thin spaghetti) noodles, cooked

Directions:
Cook pasta in boiling, salted water until al dente. Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add garlic and red pepper flakes and cook until garlic is lightly browned, add tomato sauce, parsley and lemon zest. Drain pasta and add to olive oil mixture. Add bacon and toss to coat all of the pasta.  Serve immediately.

I make the original recipe for this all the time. We will have to try it with bacon. Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
