Carolina Mustard Barbecue Sauce

Whenever we pick up barbecue from the local place here, I always make my husband get a ton of the mustard base barbecue sauce. We love it so much. Well tonight, I was making my easy peasy crock pot barbecue (If you haven't made this yet, you really should.) and I decided to try out a new bbq sauce recipe. This stuff was just like the stuff from our favorite barbecue place. I am so happy that I now know how to make it! And the best part was that I had all the ingredients and that it only took 30 minutes to make. Definitely try this out. You can put it on anything!

Carolina Mustard Barbecue Sauce
from Simply Recipes

Ingredients:
4 Tablespoons butter
1/2 onion, grated
1/2 cup yellow mustard
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 Tbsp dry mustard
1 teaspoon cayenne
1 bay leaf
Salt to taste

Directions:
Heat the butter over medium heat until it's frothy, then add the onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes. Be careful not let the onions brown. Add in remaining ingredients, stir well and simmer slowly for 30 minutes or more.
